Flooding, downed trees, power lines menace Bonita Springs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. Hurricane Irma cleanup in Bonita Springs could take “a number of months,” city officials said Monday.

Many roads are flooded, and others have downed trees and power lines are strewn across them, the city said in a press release.

Driving through the city is discouraged.

Damage assessment in the Bonita Springs Utilities Inc. service area may take several days, the utility company said. It’s made more difficult by extensive debris, flooding, power supply and access problems.

Residents are asked to report water leaks at 239-992-0711.

Below are areas with excessive flooding, according to the city:

  • East Terry Street from Old 41 Road to Bonita Grande Drive
  • The Citrus Park neighborhood
  • Morton Grove in Bonita Springs
  • Kent Road
  • Quinn Street
  • Palm Creek Drive
  • Luke Street
  • Tarpon Avenue

Downed power lines and trees have been spotted in these areas, the city said:

  • Southern Pines Drive
  • Hickory Boulevard
  • Bonita Beach Road
  • Earl Road and Princess Lane
  • Pennsylvania Avenue and Buccaneer Drive
  • Clair Street and Strike Lane
