Lehigh woman arrested in officer-involved shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla. A 46-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for her involvement in an officer-involved shooting last month, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

On April 22 around 3:33 a.m., deputies received a call about an unknown suspect shooting into an occupied vehicle on Interstate 75 near mile marker 139.

When they arrived, Nicole Kramer, of 25 Palm Blvd. in Lehigh Acres, pulled out a gun and began walking toward deputies, despite commands to stop, according to the sheriff’s office.

A deputy then fired at Kramer, striking her once. Kramer was transported to the hospital.

An investigation revealed Kramer attempted suicide numerous times in the past and placed the phony 911 call with the intention of confronting law enforcement and provoking deadly force, deputies said. A handwritten note was found in Kramer’s detailing her plan and apologizing to law enforcement for forcing them to kill her.

Kramer was eventually released from the hospital and taken into custody. She is facing one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with no bond set.
