CAPE CORAL, Fla. It could take up to four months for some businesses to reopen their doors in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

Sal Cossentino found sheet rock, insulation and parts of the ceiling scattered across the floor of his once busy restaurant All About Bagels & More on 3310 Del Prado Blvd.

“A hurricane can change your life or lives in a minute,” Cossentino said.

Kelly Feather’s restaurant FINS Seafood & Dive Bar on 3422 Del Prado Blvd. is currently open to customers.

But the storm caused thousands of dollars worth of damage and forced Feather to throw out spoiled food.

“We don’t have other partners, we don’t wanna take out business loans so basically we’re taking money out of our own retirement funds,” Feather said.

Over two million businesses were impacted across the state by Irma, according to Dun and Bradstreet, an analytics company.
