LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. Hurricane Irma blew out windows and knocked down ceiling tiles at Lehigh Senior High School.
It also ravaged portable classrooms at Three Oaks Middle School, knocked down trees at the entrance to Three Oaks Elementary School, and left Gulf Middle School surrounded by water, according to a preliminary damage assessment taken by the School District of Lee County.
Another portable classroom unit in storage at the Buckingham Bus Compound was overturned.
The district will send out teams to prepare a more comprehensive damage report for the Florida Department of Education and other agencies.
Schools in Lee County are closed through Friday.
