Fort Myers man arrested in downtown Fort Myers shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla. A 32-year-old man was arrested Saturday in connection to a shooting near Hendry Street, the Fort Myers Police Department said.

The shooting happened at around 2:45 a.m. near the Downtown House of Pizza on the 1000 block of Hendry Street, police said.

Roberto Pacheco, of Fort Myers, got into a physical argument with a group of women, police said. Pacheco then shot Spencer Gerard Toles, 27, of Naples, after he saw what was happening and attempted to break up the fight.

Toles was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said. Pacheco was later detained after he attempted to flee the scene.

Pacheco, who remains at Lee County Jail, is facing charges of battery, discharging a firearm in public and use of a firearm by a person under the influence of alcohol.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 8 a.m. on Aug 1.
