FORT MYERS, Fla. A severe thunderstorm watch has been discontinued for Southwest Florida as a line of storms moved past, the National Weather Service said.
More than 400 people are without power in Collier, Hendry, Lee and Charlotte counties, Florida Power and Light said.
Power was also knocked out to more than 100 customers on Pine Island and Marco Island as storms moved through, the Lee County Electric Cooperative said. It was restored just before 8:30 p.m.
The Skyway Bridge was closed for several hours due to high winds, the Florida Highway Patrol said. It reopened at around 6:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for part of the Tampa Bay area Wednesday afternoon, but it expired by Wednesday evening.
