ESTERO, Fla. The Village Council replaced Mayor Nick Batos and Vice Mayor Howard Levitan on Wednesday after they announced they wouldn’t seek additional terms.
Council members elected District 5 representative Jim Boesch as mayor and District 1 representative Bill Ribble as vice mayor.

Levitan cited his belief that the executive positions should be rotated among council members for his decision not to run for re-election. Batos didn’t give a reason for his decision.
Batos will continue on the council as District 6 representative.
