FORT MYERS, Fla. One person died in a crash Wednesday night on McGregor Boulevard between Cordova Avenue and Lynwood Avenue, the Fort Myers Police Department said.
Colten Garrett Hassut, 26, of Fort Myers, died at the scene. Andrew Grant Conlyn, 26, of Fort Myers, sustained minor injuries, according to police.
It’s unclear which of them was the driver. The single-vehicle crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. when a 1997 Ford Mustang hit palm trees and a utility pole, officers said.
Either drugs, alcohol or both appear to have contributed to the crash, and criminal charges are pending a further investigation, according to police.
The Mustang was traveling southbound at a “high rate of speed,” according to police, but it’s not clear just how fast it was going.
The wreck shut down McGregor Boulevard, but it reopened just after 5 a.m.
No further information was immediately available.
