NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — A 59-year-old man was killed Saturday in a crash on North Cleveland Avenue just south of Pine Island Road, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
John Mundt, of Prescott, Wisconsin, was struck and killed by a 2003 Toyota while crossing North Cleveland Avenue, deputies said.
An investigation revealed that Mundt tried to cross the road in an area not designed for pedestrians. The driver stated she didn’t see Mundt in the road prior to the crash.
Mundt was pronounced dead at the scene.
